A place to find tranquility and renewed hope
Therapy for Depression & Anxiety in Pasadena, CA
Healing begins with self-discovery.
I believe that we as individuals are complex -- made up of our many identities, roles, and experiences, both individually and intergenerationally. With that, there are times when you may feel stuck, in pain, misunderstood, or unsure about who you are.
Often what brings folks to therapy is concerns about depression and anxiety. I’ve found that these two experiences often go hand-in-hand. One day, you may feel weighed down by the intensity of depression, struggling to get through your daily tasks while another day you might feel uncomfortable in your body, overthinking things that typically aren’t troublesome for you.
In some instances, depression and anxiety aren’t operating hand-in-hand. Instead, they’re isolating experiences that can feel relentless. For example, those who identify as people pleasers and perfectionists may actually be struggling with symptoms of anxiety. Alternatively, folks grappling with low self-esteem and motivation or feelings of emptiness might be navigating depression. With deep care to how these concerns may show up for you, our work together will focus on helping you find relief and balance.
You’re ready to start feeling more at ease.
What to expect
I’m attuned to how depression and anxiety can rob us of our joy, disrupt our day-to-day, and even lead to a sense of hopelessness. In our work together, I will first focus on supporting you in finding relief with the goal of decreasing the frequency and severity of your symptoms. Then, we get to look at what is going on at the root. Depression and anxiety serve as alarm bells that there is something going on deep within you that needs tending to. What is behind depression and anxiety is often childhood dysfunction, relational trauma, and the pain of being othered, whether that is interpersonally or systematically. Experiences in today’s reality (things like work, relationships, life transitions, or loss) can activate these older, deeper wounds. With compassion for all parts of you, we get to dive to the root of the problem. Through doing so, you get the opportunity to heal, restore meaningful connections in your life, and find acceptance for your truest self.
